Digi-Eggs

Digi-Eggs allow an ancient form of Digivolving called Armor Digivolving... They were used in Digimon Adventure 02 because the Digimon Emperor possessed a dark D-3 that prevented any Digimon from naturally Digivolving... The Digi-Eggs were originally used for four Ancient Digimon: Veemon, Hawkmon, Armadillomon, and Wormmon. However, Kari and T.K. found their own Digi-Eggs, which allowed their non-Ancient Digimon, Patamon and Gatomon, to also Armor Digivolve...

Digi-Eggs are stored in a D-Terminal, a Real World device which was popular among the children for instant messaging purposes prior to their adventures in the Digital World... This effect was not anticipated by the four Digimon protectors. This egg storage allowed Digimon to have several different Armor Digivolved forms...

The Digi-Egg of Courage belongs to Davis Motomiya... It allows his Digimon partner, Veemon, to Armor Digivolve to Flamedramon... It has the symbol from the Crest of Courage, which belonged to Taichi "Tai" Kamiya... Most of the Digivolutions through this Digi-Egg have something to do with fire or dinosaurs (or more simply are similar to Greymon) and all have the Crest of Courage somewhere on their body...

The Digi-Egg of Friendship belongs to Davis Motomiya... It allows his Digimon partner, Veemon, to Armor Digivolve to Raidramon... It has the symbol from the Crest of Friendship, which belonged to Yamato "Matt" Ishida... Most of the Digivolutions through this Digi-Egg have something to do with thunder or ice (and their resemblances are, in some cases, similar to Garurumon's) and have the Crest of Friendship on their body...
The Digi-Egg of Hope Digi-Egg belongs to Takeru "T.K." Takaishi, and it allows his Digimon partner, Patamon, to Armor Digivolve to Pegasusmon... It has the symbol from the Crest of Hope, which also belonged to T.K.... Most of the Digivolutions through this Digi-Egg have something to do with ungulates (hoofed mammals), and have the Crest of Hope on their body...

The Digi-Egg of Kindness belongs to Ken Ichijouji... It has the symbol from the Crest of Kindness, which also belonged to Ken... It allows his Digimon partner, Wormmon, to Armor Digivolve to Pucchiemon... Most of the Digivolutions through this Digi-Egg have something to do with exotic or small animals...

This Digi-Egg of Knowledge belongs to Cody Hida... It allows his Digimon partner, Armadillomon, to Armor Digivolve to Digmon... It has the symbol from the Crest of Knowledge, which belonged to Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi... Most of the Digivolutions through this Digi-Egg have something to do with bugs and insects (and, sometimes, are consequently similar to Kabuterimon), and have the Crest of Knowledge on their body...
The Digi-Egg of Light belongs to Hikari "Kari" Kamiya... It allows her Digimon partner, Gatomon, to Armor Digivolve to Nefertimon... It has the symbol from the Crest of Light, which also belonged to Kari... Most of the Digivolutions through this Digi-Egg have something to do with mythical animals, and have the Crest of Light on their body...
This Digi-Egg of Love belongs to Yolei Inoue... It allows her Digimon partner, Hawkmon, to Armor Digivolve to Halsemon... It has the symbol from the Crest of Love, which belonged to Sora Takenouchi... Most of the Digivolutions through this Digi-Egg have something to do with birds or wind (and share their resemblances with Birdramon), and have the Crest of Love on their body...

Originally given by the powers of darkness, the four guardians of the Digiworld rebuilt it as the Digi-Egg of Miracles... During the final showdown with the Digimon Emperor, Wormmon led Davis and Veemon to the engine room of Ken's base... It rose up, causing the Digimon Emperor's base to stop moving... After the egg was rebuilt, it floated into Davis' hands... It allowed Veemon to Golden Armor Digivolve into Magnamon... Most of the Digivolutions have some kind of armor...

The Digi-Egg of Reliability belongs to Cody Hida... It allows his Digimon partner, Armadillomon to Armor Digivolve to Submarimon... It has the symbol from the Crest of Reliability, which belonged to Joe Kido. Most of the Digivolutions through this Digi-Egg have something to do with fish and water (the same things with which Ikkakumon has ties), and have the Crest of Reliability on their body...

The Digi-Egg of Sincerity belongs to Yolei Inoue... It allows her Digimon partner, Hawkmon, to Armor Digivolve to Shurimon... It has the symbol from the Crest of Sincerity, which belonged to Mimi Tachikawa... Most of the Digivolutions through this Digi-Egg has something to do with Japan and plants (and are able in fighting hand-to-hand, just like Togemon), and have the Crest of Sincerity on their body...

The Digital World

The Digital World featured in Digimon Adventure is the same featured in Digimon Adventure 02; Adventure 02 is a sequel to Adventure...

This incarnation of the Digital World runs closely parallel to two other dimensions - one is a kalidoscopic world that possesses the power to transform thoughts and dreams into reality, and the other is a "world of darkness," a grim, foreboding ocean that has the ability to make the dark thoughts of others come to life... The Digital World is tied very closely to these two worlds, and has absorbed a fraction of the former's power to bring thoughts to life; this power, combined with the data of the Digital World, gave life to human thoughts, dreams, spiritual beliefs and myths in the form of Digimon...

In this universe, Digimon life is cyclical... When a Digimon reaches the end of their life, the data which makes up their body disperses, only to reform at Primary Village, where it takes the form of a Digi-Egg... The eggs are tended by Elecmon, and hatch out into baby Digimon, so that the Digimon can live their lives over again, ad infinitum... There is some evidence to suggest that the data of evil Digimon does not reform at Primary Village, but rather, is sent to the world of darkness...

Many locales in this Digital World are named after computer programs and hardware... For example, the two continents of the Digital World are named Folder and Server... File Island is a key location in this Digital World, home to Primary Village, and a form of nexus point for the world's data...

Years before the beginning of the series, when an evil being came to the Digital World from beyond the "wall of fire," its presence caused the Digital World to become warped, throwing its chronology out of synch with the real world, with one Digital World day passing in the time it took one minute to tick by on Earth... To defeat this being, five human children were chosen and brought to the Digital World, successfully defeating the evil force... These children were known as the "DigiDestined", and their legend was famed throughout the Digital World, with temples erected to their memories, and a prophecy that said a new generation of DigiDestined would arise when the Digital World needed them... Some years later, another evil creature - Apocalymon - appeared in the Digital World; consequently, a new group of eight children were selected to become the new DigiDestined and came to the Digital World to battle the evil that had infected it... As a result of their success, Digital World time was re-synchronized with Earth time...

In Digimon Adventure 02, the dimensional balance of the Digital World came under threat when the human Yukio Oikawa - possessed by the digital ghost of the evil Myotismon - used agents such as the Digimon Emperor and Arukenimon to erect huge black obelisks around the Digital World, destabilizing reality all around it so that he could gain access to it... The culmination of this plan resulted in the revelation of the Digital World's existence to the world at large; twenty-five years after these events, all humans have a Digimon partner...

DigiDestined

In Digimon Adventure the DigiDestined were chosen by unseen digital beings that wished to help the Digital World... There is no information on who chose the DigiDestined of Adventure 02...

Although it has been stated that the Digidestined from Adventure were chosen because of an earlier battle between Agumon and Parrotmon (in which Tai and Kari helped Agumon Digivolve into Greymon), the second set of Digidestined were chosen because of various things that the group from Adventure did... Yolei was chosen because she sent many emails during the battle with
Diaboromon on the internet, Cody was chosen because he was in the plane that Garudamon saved from crashing when the sky opened, and Davis was part of the group of people who were being held inside the convention center when Myotismon was looking for the 8th Digidestined...

D-3 Digivice

The D-3s are the Digivices of the new DigiDestined introduced in Digimon Adventure 02, having been created by Azulongmon and the Harmonious Ones along with the Digi-Eggs to counter the power of Ken Ichijouji's Dark D-3... Soon after the three new DigiDestined children acquired their D-3s - released from the Digi-Egg of Courage - T.K. and Kari's original Digivices were upgraded into D-3 forms... D-3s have a white centre with differently-coloured grips for each DigiDestined, as follows:

Davis: Blue
Yolei: Red
Cody: Yellow
T.K.: Green
Kari: Pink
Ken: Grey centre with black grips

Dubbed "D-3s" by Izzy for their three settings - Digital, Detect and Discover - the D-3s possess all the basic functions of the original Digivices, allowing for Digivolution to the Champion level and DNA Digivolution to Ultimate... Used in conjunction with Digi-Eggs (stored within everyday store-bought palmtops known as "D-Terminals") D-3s also allow Armor Digivolution...

A specific power that the D-3s possess over the original Digivices is their ability to opent "Digi-Ports" - computer programs that serve as gateways to the Digital World... Original Digivices cannot perform this function, although once a Digi-Port is opened by a D-3, holders can still traverse the dimensional gap...

Ken Ichijouji's corrupted Dark D-3 have the inverse effect of a normal Digivice, projecting an energy which inhibited Digivolution... In the guise of the Digimon Emperor, Ken constructed a series of "Control Spires" around the Digital World and broadcasted this energy into them; in turn, the spires generated wide-range energy fields that prevented Digivolution in the surrounding area... Ken was eventually freed from this dark influence and was able to use his Digivice to naturally evolve his Digimon partner, Wormmon; although he possessed the Crest of Kindness, he did not use it in conjunction with his Digivice in the animated series...

Original Digivice

Wielded by the DigiDestined of Digimon Adventure, the original Digivices were created for them by Gennai's group of Digital World guardians... They serve to channel the emotional energy of the DigiDestined, allowing their Digimon partners to Digivolve up to Champion level; when used in conjunction with the energies of a Crest, the Digivices also permit Digivolution to the Ultimate level, and, in the case of Tai and Matt, Warp Digivolution to the Mega level... When employed for an Ultimate or Mega level Digivolution, the Digivices warp and change color, matching the colorations of the DigiDestined's Crests, as follows:

Tai: Orange
Matt: Blue
Izzy: Purple
Sora: Red
Mimi: Green
Joe: Gray
T.K.: Yellow
Kari: Pink

In addition to permitting Digivolution, the Digivices have some other abilities... They can project beams of light that have debilitating effects on evil Digimon - those under the control of a Black Gear will have it forced from their body, while those who are simply unpleasant in nature will be turned to goodness... These beams can restrain Digimon, and, on one occasion, combined to create a force-field that contained a massive explosion... On a more mundane level, they have built-in clocks, and are able to track the signal emitted by other Digivices... To travel into the Digital World, one must possess a Digivice...

Ken Ichijouji

Ken Ichijouji (一乗寺 賢 Ichijōji Ken) is the final member of the 02 DigiDestined, partnered with Wormmon and holder of the Crest of Kindness... Unlike the other 02 DigiDestined, he lives in Tamachi, which is next to Odaiba... At first the devious Digimon Emperor (Digimon Kaiser in Japan), Ken tried hard to atone for his wicked acts and eventually is helped along the way by Davis and the others...

As a young child, Ken always felt that he was passed over by his parents in favor of his older brother Sam (Osamu in Japan), a child prodigy... Ken bore a grudge toward Sam as a result...
Months later, while he was with Sam in his room, a Digivice came out of Sam’s computer... It was meant for Ken but neither of them knew this – Sam picked it up and put it in his drawer, telling Ken not to touch the drawer and vowed to find out what it was... Ken, in childish curiosity, touched the Digivice and was pulled through Sam’s computer into the Digital World... It was there that he met
Wormmon and helped Ryo in fighting Millenniummon... However, when Millenniummon was defeated, he forced out pieces of his data in the form of Dark Spores... Ken pushed Ryo out of the way and one of the Spores struck him, sinking inside his neck...
Wormmon and Ryo tended to the boy for three weeks until he was well enough to return to the Real World, where he found that it was the same day as he had left; this is likely due to Millenniummon’s ability to warp time and space... Sam scolded Ken for breaking his trust and touching the Digivice and Ken again found himself angrily wishing that Sam would just disappear... Later, Sam died after being hit by a car... Some time after that, Ken felt guilty for making a wish that came true... Then an e-mail from a mysterious figure (revealed later to be
Yukio Oikawa) told him to use the Digivice to escape the guilt... Ken did this and was transported to the Dark Ocean... His Digivice turned dark and Ken adopted several aspects of Sam. Since then, he became a boy genius, good at everything that was either sport or intellect-related such as chess and judo... He even became star player of the Tamachi Soccer team in which he holds a record for most goals in a league season with forty five... However, as the Spore continued its work, Ken became apathetic towards society, viewing everyone around him as pathetic insects, beneath his notice... And thus he set his sights on the world which could challenge him...

Ken returned to the Digital World and, through the subtle, unseen manipulations of Arukenimon, assumed the guise of the Digimon Emperor and took over the Digimon with Dark Rings which he enslaved a number of Digimon, similar to the Black Gears that Devimon used on the Digimon in File Island... The Dark Rings gave each Digimon bloodshot eyes and made them completely obedient... Ken often used these as sport, such as having two of them fight in a Colosseum-style arena, and kept them locked in a sophisticated system of cages...
Ken made his proper introduction (as himself) during a newscast about how he won a National Computer Programming Contest with a
machine that can brush people's teeth for them... The news also mentioned many of Ken's previous accomplishments as well, such as chess, Donkey Madness, soccer, and balancing the worlds largest checkbook... As the Emperor, Ken had many conflicts with the new DigiDestined as he planned to rule the Digital World... Ken's dark Digivice prevented the Digimon from being able to naturally evolve, but Davis, Cody, and Yolei's Digimon were able to "Armor Digivolve" to defeat his Dark Ring-enslaved Digimon... During one battle, they discovered that the Dark Spires controlled the power and also began destroying them as well... Finally, during a soccer game in the real world, Davis (one of the DigiDestined) injured Ken's ankle in an attempt to block him from scoring a goal... During their next confrontation in the Digital World, Davis recognized the scar and Ken revealed himself... As a result, he abandoned the Real World to live in the Digital World and assumed the Emperor identity permanently... During that time, he created Dark Spirals to control Ultimate Level Digimon as well as some Champion Level Digimon like Tai's Agumon (who Ken digivolved into SkullGreymon and then MetalGreymon)... His parents, with no knowledge of where he had gone, were panicked and made various televised pleas to try and find Ken... When his creation, Kimeramon, turned on him and was subsequently defeated by Magnamon, Ken couldn’t believe that he had lost... He proclaimed he would reset the Digital World, thinking it was just a computer program... When the DigiDestined explained to him that it was a real place and that Digimon were living creatures, Ken collapsed, realizing the cruelty he had inflicted and Wormmon's death sparked the sadness he had for Sam's death... Numbly, Ken staggered off to return home... Ken slept for days, in a pseudo-coma, where memories of his brother, the Digivice and his first trip to the Digital World returned in his mind... When he awoke, he had amnesia and could not recognize his parents... He traveled to the Digital World where, at Primary Village, he was reunited with Leafmon, the Baby form of Wormmon... Since then, Ken vowed to make up for the horrible deeds he committed... As he did, he learned that he was used by Arukenimon when she took all data relating to the Control Spires from the boy's computer... With Stingmon (Wormmon's Champion form), he began the daunting task of destroying the Control Spires that he erected... At first, upon learning that Ken was back and doing good, Davis wanted to ask Ken to join the team, but none of the other DigiDestined liked the idea, particularly Cody... They were convinced that he was still evil when Ken ordered Stingmon to destroy Thundermon in Primary Village... The DigiDestined believed that Thundermon was a real Digimon, but he was actually created from a Control Spire... Once the DigiDestined learned that in the next battle, they became more accepting... Ken officially became a member of the team a little after ExVeemon and Stingmon DNA Digivolved to Paildramon... Despite joining the team, Ken felt uncomfortable around the others, particularly Cody, who still strongly disliked him for what he did... However, Ken helped out in all the battles against Arukenimon, Mummymon and BlackWarGreymon... When Digimon began to appear on Christmas Day, Ken and Wormmon went to Mexico City with Matt and Gabumon to help Rosa and Gotsumon round up the wild Digimon there... Later that night, when Ken got home, he had a dream of his first time in the Digital World and the Dark Spore... The next day, Daemon and his Daemon Corps began to appear in Tokyo, wreaking havoc in search of Ken and the Dark Spore... But Arukenimon managed to convince Ken to come with her, using the children she 'kidnapped' to motivate him... Once inside the truck, Ken met Oikawa, who revealed the nature of Dark Spore and copied its data into the other children, who had all been taken willingly... After the events that result with Daemon's banishment & Oikawa's escape, Ken finally introduced his stunned parents to Wormmon and the following day, now aware of what was going on, Ken’s father was happy to help the children look for Oikawa... By December 30, Ken and the other DigiDestined (with Matt, Izzy and Joe) were standing watch at Hikarigota, waiting for the Dark Spore kids to arrive... When they were all congregated there, Oikawa arrived and began the process that used the Spores to convert the children’s energies into an energy he could use to enter the Digital World... Ken demanded to know why he had been chosen and what the Control Spires were for... Oikawa happily explained and opened the portal... The 02 DigiDestined followed him, only to discover that they weren’t in the Digital World at all but some bizarre other dimension... This is when the ghost of Myotismon, an enemy of the former Digidestined revealed that he was behind everything... He explained how he entered Oikawa's body not long after his defeat and used Oikawa to help him in his revenge... He also abandoned Oikawa’s body and used the power of the Spores to Digivolve into MaloMyotismon, his Mega form... The villain subjected the kids to illusions of their greatest desires... For Ken, on some subconscious level, his desire was to see himself punished for what he did as the Digimon Emperor and to have his brother back... But "Sam" told Ken that he couldn't change the past but could ensure a future for himself... Following his "brother's" final words and angry at having been manipulated yet again, Ken released his guilt, crying out that he wasn’t the Emperor any more and that he had been punished enough... And with that, he helped in the final battle against MaloMyotismon...

In the year 2027, Ken becomes a private investigator... He marries Yolei and has three children: a girl with a Poromon, a boy with a Minomon and a baby boy who has a Leafmon...

Iori 'Cody' Hida

Cody Hida, known as Iori Hida (火田 伊織 Hida Iori) in Japan, is partnered with Armadillomon... Despite being the youngest of the DigiDestined, he's the most serious... A lot of his wisdom comes from his grandfather, Chikara Hida, who is also Cody's Kendo teacher...

On August 3rd, 1999, Cody was in an airplane that was attacked by Kuwagamon and was saved by MegaKabuterimon and Garudamon... As a result, Cody became a DigiDestined...

He obtains his D3, Armadillomon and the Digi-Egg of Knowledge on the first week of school... A little later, Cody began to fear that he was letting the team down but his grandfather convinced him that all he has to do was try his hardest and that way, he wasn't letting anyone down... Later, Cody and the others were trapped in an offshore oil platform by a Dark-Spiraled MegaSeadramon and Cody had to overcome his fear of the sea to use a submersible to get help from Joe... With some convincing from Joe, Cody managed to activate the newly-uncovered Digi-Egg of Reliability, allowing Armadillomon to Armor Digivolve to Submarimon to help defeat MegaSeadramon...

Even after Ken began to undo the damage he had done, Cody still couldn't forgive him, which put the entire team at risk when BlackWarGreymon appeared... After Paildramon and Silphymon debuted, Cody saw that he and T.K. would have to have their Digimon DNA Digivolve... Soon, Cody understood the reasons for this when he talked to Matt... Understanding T.K.'s reasons was all Cody needed for Ankylomon and Angemon to DNA Digivolve... By December, Cody finally accepted Ken at Christmas... He accepted Ken's invitation to his Christmas party... On Christmas day, he, Joe and their Digimon went to Australia to help the DigiDestined of the Pacific round up the wild Digimon who had appeared on Earth as a result of Arukenimon opening all the Digi-Ports... When he got back to Japan, he had to face a harsh reality check the next night as MarineDevimon was about to destroy a hospital as he and T.K. helped a disabled girl get to safety... Shakkoumon's only option was to destroy MarineDevimon, shocking and upsetting Cody, who was forced to accept that... Cody then encountered Yukio Oikawa, both learning their connection to Hiroki Hida... At the Other World, Cody was subjected to MaloMyotismon's illusion... His desire was to be with his father and show him the Digital World... Armadillomon appeared to explain how the effect was not real and Flamedramon appeared to take him back to the other kids, who were in the process of breaking free of their illusions... Cody used the power of the dream dimension against MaloMyotismon, making his desire for justice come true, with Ankylomon, Submarimon, Digmon, and Shakkoumon appearing all at once... After MaloMyotismon was finally destroyed, Cody went back into the dream dimension to help the fallen Oikawa, dragging him to the edge of the portal... However, Oikawa, close to death, used the other world to fulfill a dream of his own... With that, Oikawa's body was deleted and the digital particles transformed into a host of butterflies, which spread across the Digital World, restoring peace and beauty to it...

By the year 2027, Cody becomes a high-class defense attorney... He is married and has a daughter with an Upamon... Cody's wife is never revealed...

Kyo 'Yolei' Inoue

Yolei is partnered to Hawkmon and as such is the first central DigiDestined to be partnered with an opposite sex Digimon, as Hawkmon is male... Yolei is a touch on the geeky side, stubborn, cheeky and impulsive... While she is somewhat loud and bold, she is very sincere and true to her feelings to the point where she is often unaware of others or how her feelings are affecting them... Yolei is compassionate and generous, but capable of being decisive and resourceful... She has odd tendencies to suddenly become depressed without explanation, but always finds the strength to come back and help her friends... Yolei's most notable skill is her technical prowess; she can fix anything from a toaster oven to a computer... She helps her family in the Ai-Mart, a convenience store just below the apartment building she, Cody Hida (Iori Hida in Japan) and T.K. Takaishi (Takeru Takaishi in Japan) live in... She works in it often and takes food from it to supply the group and their ever-hungry Digimon with... She has a crush on Ken Ichijouji and idolizes Mimi Tachikawa and Koushiro Izumi... She is apparently the youngest of four siblings: she has two sisters (high school-aged Momoe, junior high-aged Chizuru) and a brother (college-bound Mantarou)... Yolei's international name was originally supposed to be "Kyo", an alternate romanization of "Miyako." However, the producers changed her name into "Yolei" by taking the "yo" out of "Kyo" and attaching it with the "lei" from Terri Lei O'Malley's name...

She obtained her D-3, Hawkmon and the Digi-Egg of Love on her first week of her final year in Odaiba Elementary... On Golden Weekend, the main characters got a surprise visit from Mimi whom Yolei got along with well... Yolei was shocked to learn that Ken was the Digimon Emperor. Later, when a Dark Spiraled Digitamamon attacked Mimi, Yolei lost her composure and began screaming at him... This outburst resulted in the manifestation of the Digi-Egg of Sincerity, which Yolei used to Armor Digivolve Hawkmon to Shurimon, who freed Digitamamon from the Spiral... When the location of the Digimon Emperor’s base was discovered, the DigiDestined decided that they would have to stay in the Digital World until it was destroyed... Yolei covered up the fact that she was nervous with some ridiculously over-the-top eagerness, barking orders and rushing around, even managing to scale a Control Spire... When her over-eagerness lead to Hawkmon getting poisoned by Dokugumon, Yolei felt guilty about it... Hawkmon was alright about it as he preferred Yolei as she is...

Davis thought it was a good idea to ask Ken to join their group... Yolei did not agree since she had seen Stingmon kill Thundermon at Ken’s command... However, when Mimi called on the new kids to help battle a Golemon, Yolei was forced to confront her feelings about Ken, which led to her accepting him... While searching for Gatomon’s lost power ring, she, Ken and Kari ended up in the Dark World... Upon finding the Dark Ocean, Kari lost her composure due to her last visit... This event was taken advantage of by Blossomon... It took Yolei's slap and harsh words to make the two girls see eye-to-eye, causing them to give their Digimon the power to DNA Digivolve... At Christmas, Yolei, Sora and their Digimon were sent to Russia but they had no translator to help them cross the language barrier with the Russian DigiDestined... Yolei's attempts at charades eventually succeeded when she used the names of Russian foods to co-ordinate their attacks on the Flymon above the city... After going home, Yolei witnessed LadyDevimon's death by Silphymon, much to her horror... Yolei accepted it as they saved the current victims and any future victims of the sadistic Digimon... At the Other World, Yolei was subjected to MaloMyotismon's illusion. Her desires were to be an only child and getting to eat lots of cake... Hawkmon and ExVeemon broke her free of the illusion and she then joined with the other kids, who were in the process of breaking free of their illusions... Yolei used the power of the dream dimension against MaloMyotismon with Aquillamon, Shurimon, Halsemon and Silphymon appearing all at once...

By the year 2027, Yolei marries Ken... She has a pre-teen daughter, a son around 10 years old and a baby who is a boy with a Leafmon... Yolei's children will have a Hawkmon and a Wormmon once their Digimon (a Poromon and a Minomon) Digivolve... Yolei is a house wife...

Daisuke 'Davis' Motomiya

Davis Motomiya, known in Japan as Daisuke Motomiya (本宮 大輔 Motomiya Daisuke), is a character in the Digimon Adventure 02 anime series. He is partnered to Veemon. He's extremely stubborn in personality. He also has a ditzy and cheerful older sister named Jun, who has a fangirly crush on Matt Ishida but backs off when she learns that he has feelings for Sora Takenouchi, crushing on Joe Kido's older brother Shuu instead...

On August 3rd, 1999, Davis was among the kids captured by Myotismon's minions... As a result, he became a DigiDestined three years later...

He took over the position as team leader from his mentor Tai and received his idol's goggles during the handover... Although he often rushes into things and makes mistakes, his courage in the face of outstanding odds cannot be denied... No matter how dire the situation, he always believes that they can somehow make it through... There is certainly no one more suited to the Digi-Egg of Courage than Davis... Early on, he claims not to know what friendship is but his later actions prove that he is truly the one worthy of the Digi-Egg of Friendship... He also has a slight resemblance to Tai, which T.K. notes in the first episode...

Davis is always getting into trouble about his intense jealousy towards anyone he sees as a rival for Kari's affections, not the least of whom is T.K...

Davis was the first of the new kids to have his partner Digivolve naturally and befriend Ken... Through hard work, he was able to convince the others to forgive Ken... Davis's moment to shine was in the final battle with MaloMyotismon... Davis was the only one willing to fight, and fueled by Davis' courage and determination, ExVeemon attacked MaloMyotismon, causing some damage... While the other children were caught in their dreamworlds, unable to let go of their desires, Davis seemed to had remained untouched... Instead he went to each of his friends and helped bring them back to reality... Even then, they were not sure whether they could win or not and were too afraid to try... But Davis, ever optimistic, encouraged them to give it a shot... When MaloMyotismon was curious to know how Davis cornered his illusion, the boy revealed he didn't as he has only one desire at the moment: to destroy MaloMyotismon... Davis even cut off MaloMyotismon's power source when he told the Dark Spore kids about his dream to own a Ramen restaurant (noodle cart)...

By the year 2027, Davis achieves his dream to open his own noodle cart and it became a huge success... There are now "noodle noodle come get your noodle" carts all over the world... His entrepreneurship earns him a place on magazine covers around the globe... He is wealthy, married and has a son, who looks exactly like his father, inherits Taichi Kamiya's goggles and has a DemiVeemon...

Introduction to Digimon Adventure 02

Digimon Adventure 02 (2000), also commonly written as Digimon 02/Digimon Zero Two, is a sequel to the previous season; three years later... With most of the original characters now in junior high school, the Digital World was supposedly secure and peaceful... However, a new evil has appeared in the form of the Digimon Emperor (Digimon Kaiser)... This new villain is different — he’s a human just like the DigiDestined... The Digimon Emperor has been enslaving all Digimon in sight with Black Rings and Control Spires and, to make things worse, has somehow made regular Digivolution impossible... Three new children are chosen to save DigiWorld and, along with T.K and Kari, make up the new generation of DigiDestined...

Hikari 'Kari' Kamiya

Hikari is usually called "Kari" in the English versions... Hikari means light in Japanese and she bears the Crest of Light and the Digi-egg of Light... She is partnered to Gatomon and she is the younger sister of Taichi "Tai" Kamiya... Kari, by nature, is kind and sweet-hearted, always looking for the best in people, and avoids fighting them when possible. She can be serious, especially in drastic situations... She bears the Crest of Light and her representative color is pink... Her elemental affinity is light... When the original seven DigiDestined entered the Digital World from summer camp, Kari was left behind, as she had been at home with the flu... She did not see any of the other DigiDestined... However, she was reunited with Tai when he was sucked into a dimensional warp following his successful victory over Etemon... Tai would later reunite with Kari again when he and the other DigiDestined entered the Real World to pursue Myotismon... Myotismon was seeking the eighth DigiDestined child... The other seven DigiDestined and Myotismon were specifically seeking the eighth Digivice... Gatomon, one of Myotismon's henchmen, was the first to realize that Kari was the eighth DigiDestined...
Wizardmon was the first one to find the eighth Digivice. He also realized that Gatomon and Kari were partners, and Gatomon remembered that she was looking for someone - looking for Kari. Wizardmon gave Kari her Crest of Light... However, when Myotismon discovered that Gatomon was the eight DigiDestined's partner, he held her captive to try to find the eighth DigiDestined. Kari turned herself in to stop the pain his minions were inflicting. Myotismon attempted to end the battle by using Grisly Wing on Kari, but Wizardmon stepped in and took the blow for her then Gatomon Digivolved into Angewomon... All the other digimon give their power into one of Angewomon's attacks, Heaven's Charm. Then, she uses the power to send an arrow through the heart of Myotismon... Kari accompanies the seven other DigiDestined when they go back to the Digital World. During this time, an odd spirit speaks and acts through Kari's body at various times; Kari appears to be the only person who can communicate with this spirit...

Kari grew a lot during the three years between Adventure 02 and Adventure, becoming more mature and less sickly... She became perkier and braver... In place of her whistle, she now has a digital camera around her neck, and has taken up photography as her main hobby... She is much slyer in this season... She has quite a liking for playing practical jokes and teasing her friends... Because Davis has a crush on her, Kari often teases him by flirting with T.K. Kari always felt safe around T.K., as he knows how she feels... He sensed her feelings for the Dark Ocean. She shares a special bond with T.K., who was a DigiDestined with her before, and they know better than the rest the dangers of the Digital World...While searching for Gatomon’s lost power ring, Kari, Yolei and Ken ended up in the Dark World. Upon finding the Dark Ocean, Kari began to lose her composure due to her last visit. She and Ken struggled under the hold of the Dark Ocean; this event was taken advantage of by a Blossomon. It took Yolei's slap and words to make the two girls see eye-to-eye. This gave Aquilamon and Gatomon the power to DNA Digivolve to Silphymon; it also gave Kari the heart to help Ken.... During Christmas, Kari, Izzy, and their Digimon were sent to Hong Kong to help the Asian DigiDestined, where all three of the Poi Brothers (Chinese Digi-Destined) developed a crush on her... After sending all of the Digimon back to their world and destroying all the Control Spires, she and the other DigiDestined faced the threat of Yukio Oikawa. He kidnapped Ken and planted Dark Spores into other children. Kari and the other DigiDestined did not realize that he was being controlled by the disembodied spirit of Myotismon... After harvesting the Dark Spores, Myotismon emerged from Oikawa, becoming MaloMyotismon... After some fighting, MaloMyotismon created a world of illusions; each DigiDestined was subjected to their true desires and wants... Kari's desire was for humans and Digimon to live side by side, making it a better world for everyone... Gatomon and Raidramon broke her free of the illusion... She then joined with the other kids, who were in the process of breaking free of their illusions... Kari used the power of the dream dimension and wished for Gatomon to become stronger; she split into Angewomon and Nefertimon and DNA Digivolved with Aquilamon to become Silphymon, all three forms appearing at the same time... After the fighting stopped, Kari saw one of her dreams come true... The Digital and Real Worlds both lived in peace together...

Kari became a kindergarten teacher and has a son (who has a Salamon as partner)...

Takeru 'T.K.' Takaishi

T.K., the younger brother of Matt Ishida, is partnered with Patamon... T.K. was too young to remember his parents' divorce clearly so he is not as affected by it as much as Matt... TK is glad when he gets to see his dad and he doesn't mind living with his mom. He has the Crest of Hope, and his respective colour is yellow... T.K. was the youngest DigiDestined when the first original seven were transported into the Digital World... However, he was fairly independent on his own, rebuffing his older brother Matt's attempts to comfort and coddle with him... He was the first one to suffer the loss of his Digimon... When Patamon digivolved into Angemon, Angemon summoned all of the others' strengths and sacrificed himself in order to defeat Devimon... This event traumatized him severely, to the point where three years later he still possessed an utter hatred of "the powers of darkness," along with nightmares about losing Angemon again in combat...

T.K. grew a lot during the last years after his first adventure... He is the star member of his basketball team... At the start of April 2002, he and his mother moved to Odaiba, with T.K. attending Odaiba Elementary in the same class as Davis and his good friend Kari. Because he and Kari are already good friends, T.K. immediately becomes the rival of a paranoid Davis... Like Kari, T.K. has a slight advantage compared to the new kids because he has had the most experience with Digimon...
After
Paildramon and Silphymon debut, Cody sees that he and T.K. would have to have their Digimon DNA Digivolve. He soon learns that there are two sides to T.K.: The 'kind and cheery' T.K. and the fierce and serious T.K. that only surfaces in the matters of villains of pure evil like Devimon or Kimeramon. T.K.'s second side was mainly due to Angemon's previous death and how he doesn't want to see Patamon die again... T.K. used the power of the dream dimension against MaloMyotismon, his dream for not one to suffer as he had, with Angemon, MagnaAngemon, Pegasusmon and Shakkoumon appearing all at once...

In the epilogue, set 25 years in the future (year 2027) T.K. becomes an author... He writes various stories based on the adventures he and the other children had... He is married (although unknown to who), and has a son, who has a Tokomon...

Joe Kido

Joe is in the sixth grade... He is partnered to Gomamon... Joe's father planned on the boys to each become a doctor, a tradition which had existed since the Edo period. Joe is the bearer of the Crest of Reliability (Faith in Japan); His respective color is grey, and element is water...

In season 2, All his studying pays off as he now attends a private junior high school... He later is busy studying for the high school entrance exams while helping the others out with the spare time that he has...

By the year 2027, Joe becomes a doctor for Digimon, though his patients keep eating his tongue depressors... In a way his family's tradition continues and his son (who very closely resembles him, and has a Bukamon) may carry it out as well... His eldest brother, Shuu, appears to be working with Izzy and Sora's father to study the Digital World....

Mimi Tachikawa

Mimi has been described as a "girly girl" - spoiled, ditzy, vain, and prissy girl who complains a lot, but also is sensitive, artsy, sweet and caring... She often talks of shopping and fashion... Mimi is also known to be flirtatious, hot-headed, and rather spunky... She is partnered to Palmon and is the bearer of the Crest of Sincerity (Purity in Japan)... Her representative color is green and her element is earth... At first, Mimi is seen as the ditzy girly girl who adds more than a touch of superficiality to any situation that she is in... She has the Crest of Sincerity in the original series, which activates during a battle in which Togemon battles against DarkTyrannomon... She is ten years old (the same age as Izzy Izumi, yet a full head taller) and in the fourth grade... She comes from a loving family that never seems to have any problems... After looking at them, it is fairly easy to see where she gets her seemingly carefree attitude from; they're very emotional, somewhat ditzy and expressive people who openly show their love for each other in all the possible ways... Despite being horribly out of touch with reality at points, Mimi is arguably one of the most realistic and feeling characters of the first season, as she demonstrates near the end of the series when she decides (temporarily) that she can't fight alongside the other DigiDestined after seeing a lot of the friends they made earlier die for their sake... Her closest friend in the group appears to be Sora Takenouchi, who seems to be the first one to comfort her in most situations that scare her, and is the main reason that she came to her senses...

During Digimon Adventure 02, a portal to the Digital World opens in the United States, allowing Mimi to access the Digital World... In addition to the clothing changes, she also changes her hair color as well...

By the year 2027, Mimi becomes a very famous, well loved and beautiful chef who has her own cooking show that is broadcast worldwide... Palmon likes to help Mimi on her show but she tends to be quite clumsy... Mimi also has a son who looks a lot like her... Her son's Digimon partner is a Tanemon.

Koushiro 'Izzy' Izumi

Izzy is partnered with Tentomon... Izzy is a computer expert and spends a large fraction of his time trying to figure stuff out on his "PiBook" laptop... He played on the soccer team with Sora Takenouchi and Taichi "Tai" Kamiya... Izzy lives with his adopted parents... When he initially found out, he began to subconsciously distant himself from his parents and focusing on his computer... The issue is resolved when his parents come forward with the truth and he accepts them as his true parents...He is the bearer of the Crest of Knowledge. He is one of the core members of the DigiDestined in both seasons. His color is purple and element is electricity... Izzy is the computer whiz of the group, most curious of the Digital World... He often prefers to be alone... Once in the Digital World, Izzy develops an "alien theory" and has a low opinion of the Digimon... Izzy becomes the first to realize that everything, even the program, is living in the Digital World... his skills with the computer, however, soon prove to be extraordinarily useful for the group... During this saga, Izzy’s parents reveal to him that he was adopted. Izzy’s real parents were killed in a car accident, and his father’s distant cousin adopted Izzy... Izzy’s computer becomes a more valued asset as the DigiDestined battle the Dark Masters. Before, their Digimon partners used to describe the information about the various Digimon that they encountered; now, Izzy has loaded a database of Digimon profiles. When a new Digimon shows up, Izzy names and describes the characteristics to the rest of the DigiDestined...

Four years later, Izzy is now in high school and was a president of the Computer Club. Izzy continues to play his technical role; he monitors the Digital World and alerts the new DigiDestined to upcoming troubles and problems...
With Willis from America, he also figures out that the new Digivices have three new functions, and dubs them the D-3s. Lastly, after school gets out, Izzy theorizes that the power of the D-3 is what really opens the gate to the Digital World. This theory proves to be correct, and gives the DigiDestined the ability to open up ports at any time and any location, rather than being limited to simply using the school’s computer lab to move in and out of the Digital World.

By the year 2027, Izzy sets up a research team to study more of the Digital World than what the human population already knows. He has a daughter, with a Motimon, but her mother is not revealed...
